Todos Santos is a quaint and laid back town for surfers and wanderers alike. Think: cobblestone streets outlined with colorful fiesta flags and shops selling locally made goods; dirt roads hidden amongst tall cacti leading to deserted surf breaks and beach shacks selling cold beer. In between it’s trendy yet chill vibes, you’ll likely come across the best street vendor corn you’ve had in your life.
There aren’t major hotel chains so any spot you choose will suffice. Guaycura Boutique Hotel is clean, classic and influenced by traditional Mexican styling with an exclusive beach club and spa (we stayed here). La Bohemia Baja is a ‘hotel pequeño’ but regardless of size, this boutique hotel is any Instagrammer’s dream (they booked up fast, but our friends stayed here). Hotel San Cristobal is a slightly more exclusive, trendy and beachside option that comes with a price tag (we pretended to stay here – i.e. sipped their mezcal margaritas while relaxing in their jacuzzi watching the sunset over the ocean). They’re all good options – pick your poison.
The unfortunate thing about this blog post, in my opinion, is that you’re going to get mostly photos and recommendations from our first day. For a food blogger, getting food poisoning while on a weekend escape to Mexico is not ideal. We’re not sure exactly what took place or when it happened, but the illness was definitely was not caused by the first destination on our list – an open air, organic farm to table restaurant with top notch passion fruit margaritas. Ohhhh how I wish I had one right now. The food was healthy and delicious, the atmosphere was relaxed and the setting was made for an festive party, wedding or celebration. A visit to Hierbabuena is well worth the 10-minute drive out of Todos Santos proper.
Overall, Todos Santos was a lovely and relaxing experience. I wish I could give you more insight on top restaurants, but that will likely have to wait until next time!
